Our Sponsorship Story

I hate sport. Simple as that.

I'm old, I'm tired, I'm allergic to people and I much prefer a decent slice of cake and putting my feet up to watch a good series!

What I do love though is drama! Not my own, obviously, I prefer a quiet life, but a good ol' dose of drama keeps the soul alive, right? Introducing Telford Tigers ice hockey!

Sarah and her partner sat at the ice hockey with Roary the tiger

Quite literally the fastest sport on ice. Don't ask me the rules, because I'm not even sure the head of ice hockey in the UK fully knows the rules, but what I do know is it's fast, it's fun, it's friendly and most importantly, it's full of drama! I'm talking speculation of who has paid the refs off, who's coach/player/fans has beef with who and a nice dose of dropping the gloves and launching fists at each other mid-game while a ref (shout out to Alice Stanley, a ref who makes it look easy, prising full grown men apart, whilst standing on a slidey floor on a blade edge!) tries to stop the rest of both teams joining in. Drama! I live for it!

What people don't see is how much goes into fuelling the drama in not just my life but thousands upon thousands across the UK, through games and streams, community work and through the very important junior development programs on offer. When I was introduced to Telford Tigers by my partner (and Company Director) Andrew, I fell in love with not just the sport but the ice hockey community itself.

I knew I wanted to give back as much as I could, when I could...

It started with a tutu for a tiger... Yep, a tutu for a tiger! I was drafted in to create a tutu for Roary, the mascot of Telford Tigers, for the Pride games mid-season. It was the least I could do for something that brings me (mostly) so much joy! So I knew when I wanted to start marketing my company, I wanted it to do good as well. A few phone calls and emails later, Roary was mine for the 24/25 season and I couldn't be prouder!

Whilst it helps me get my brand out there, it also helps raise vital funds for the teams, the players, the staff, the kiddos and all the good work they do in the community.

All the staff you see around the rink on match nights, those who run their social media etc, the staff who organise the coaches for fans to travel to away games, all volunteers. Every single one of them...

As the 24/25 season drew to a close, I made a coffee date with Tom Watkins to discuss how I could support the team going further into the 25/26 season, the Tigers' 40th Anniversary season!

We couldn't not sponsor Roary but we wanted to go that bit extra, so we came up with a plan and we are even more proud than last year to say we now sponsor the Telford Tigers stream, so if you ever decide to watch a game, you'll see our logo popping up, or if you're at Telford Ice Rink for a skate session, you'll see our advert board on the side of the rink (that we have dubbed the Completely Mutts corner!).

So if you ever wanted a family friendly night out to watch a completely insane sport, surrounded by some of the most welcoming fans and players (if you stand by the rink when they're coming on and leaving, hold your fist out and you might get a fist bump!), go see a Telford Tigers match!

They have two teams, Tigers 1 NIHL (National Ice Hockey League) Team, coached by the amazing Tom Watkins, and Tigers 2, rising up through the Moralee League for 25/26 after winning the treble in the 24/25 season in the Laidler Cup League, coached by the formidable Jason Silverthorn.

Whatever team you decide to watch, both offer fast-paced, exhilarating moments like those in the video above!

You can find out more information about the game itself, the Tigers' games and what it's like to watch when you're there by clicking here!

Who knows, you might just find something better than Netflix and cake...
